As we’ve told you over the past few weeks, Blik was a proud sponsor of Manifest Equality which closed last Sunday in Hollywood. We had the pleasure of working with organizers Yosi Sergant and Apple Via to help transform the raw space into a sprawling, pop-up art gallery with more than 200 artists including street artists Robbie Conal, Swoon and Shepard Fairey, and illustrative painters Barry McGee, Gary Baseman and Elizabeth McGrath. Plus one of our favorites – the JUSTICE Mural by El Mac, Retna and Kofie. Watch the time lapse installation video.

The five-day show was a smashing success with 10,000 people trekking through the gallery to see art in addition to great musical lineups that included Fitz and The Tantrums, Sea Wolf, Ben Lee and Crystal Method.

Jeremy’s elemental designs in “The Last Duel”, “Buck You” and “The Hunter” for Blik serve as a personal narrative on pop culture and society. “The Last Duel” was originally from his “The Ghosts of the Barbary Coast” show based on Jeremy’s collection of true stories from San Francisco in the Barbary Coast days of 1850. While “Buck You” is a refreshingly subversive concept mixed with graffiti humor. “The Hunter” is a humorous take on our basic human needs and the fight for survival.

It’s true. We’re smitten with these two LA-based gals, who are the newest additions to the line up of fine-artists for Blik. We love the fresh, perspective each brings to their respective work. And besides being ridiculously talented, they’re both lovely people to work with too. Saelee Oh for Blik is an imaginative collection of fairy tale-like stories told with nature and fantastic creatures of beauty. The colors are soft, evoking a very serene feel. If heavy metal meets the animal kingdom is more your style, then check out Hannah Stouffer’s designs for Blik. Her juxtaposition of bold imagery created with such delicate intricacies are a product of the duality she finds in her own life experiences. No matter your taste, make room for these designs in your space. They’ll look great and these ladies are quickly becoming fixtures in the art world. If you haven’t gotten yours already, pick up the March 2010 issue of Dwell. Gracing the master bedroom of the “My House” featured home, is a Mina Javid for Blik custom headboard. We think it looks pretty terrific in the Venice, CA home of Eric Grunbaum, an Oregon-raised creative director for an LA ad agency. Besides being our neighbor, transplanted from the Pacific Northwest (like Blik’s Jerinne Neils), Eric selected esteemed architect Barbara Bestor to design his home. Well, it just so happens that Blik co-founder Scott Flora knows Barbara from his UCLA Architecture days. Bestor commissioned the “big red wall project”, a Blik custom installation outside of her office in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. It’s a small, small world.

We can’t wait to show you the finished space in a few weeks; below is a sneak peek of the before. Fun fact: the space was formerly used to house Oscar statues.

Lead by the Yosi Sergant of Taskforce, the gallery will gather an array of the nation’s most talented visual artists under one roof to celebrate and demand full and equal rights for all Americans. Taskforce’s mission is to give voice to the voiceless and to utilize art and creative thinking to engage the country for progressive action. We are proud to support Taskforce in their effort to engage a community of independent artists to make change in America.

The Manifest Equality gallery will be open to the public, March 3rd - March 7th, 2010. Check out http://www.manifestequality.com/ for more details.
