Wee Gallery Birdie Banner Flys into Blik

Chan Pisani Residence

Tweet, tweet! A little bird told us there is a “banner trend” for nurseries.

If you’re looking for a fun way to add your child’s name to the nursery, look no further. Wee Gallery’s Birdie Banner lets you spell out their name (letter by letter) on a banner held up by two birdies. Trend or not, we think it’s a sweet way for your little one to learn their name.

Three New Threadless Graphics

Feel like spring-cleaning? Today we are introducing three shiny new prints from Threadless for your walls: “Clean Monster,” “Let It Flow!” and “Tectonic Wormhole.”

And remember to keep Blik’ing or Nix’ing your favorite Threadless tee shirt designs in the Threadless voting booth. Make your vote count!

Anise Spotted in Santa Monica

awc

Animal Wellness Centers on Main Street in Santa Monica was profiled in Saturday’s Los Angeles Times Home section. And looked what we spotted – Anise wall graphics by Ilan Dei for Blik! The clean, minimalist space was designed with a dog’s perspective in mind, with everything from 3 ft. down appealing to dogs. It’s nice when Blik can make dogs and people happy. Woof!

EXPLORE THE ALTERNATE WORLD OF JEREMY FISH @ BLIK

Creepy and cute? No, it’s not an oxymoron; it’s Jeremy Fish for Blik. The San Francisco-based artist and illustrator is the latest in Blik’s growing line of fine art partnerships. Jeremy’s first museum exhibition, Weathering the Storm just wrapped at the Laguna Art Museum to rave reviews.

Jeremy’s elemental designs in “The Last Duel”, “Buck You” and “The Hunter” for Blik serve as a personal narrative on pop culture and society. “The Last Duel” was originally from his “The Ghosts of the Barbary Coast” show based on Jeremy’s collection of true stories from San Francisco in the Barbary Coast days of 1850. While “Buck You” is a refreshingly subversive concept mixed with graffiti humor. “The Hunter” is a humorous take on our basic human needs and the fight for survival.

Stay tuned! There are more Jeremy Fish designs in the works that we’ll be launching throughout the year. Want to know more about the “King of North Beach”, visit Jeremy’s site.

WE LOVE HANNAH + SAELEE

It’s true. We’re smitten with these two LA-based gals, who are the newest additions to the line up of fine-artists for Blik. We love the fresh, perspective each brings to their respective work. And besides being ridiculously talented, they’re both lovely people to work with too. Saelee Oh for Blik is an imaginative collection of fairy tale-like stories told with nature and fantastic creatures of beauty. The colors are soft, evoking a very serene feel. If heavy metal meets the animal kingdom is more your style, then check out Hannah Stouffer’s designs for Blik. Her juxtaposition of bold imagery created with such delicate intricacies are a product of the duality she finds in her own life experiences. No matter your taste, make room for these designs in your space. They’ll look great and these ladies are quickly becoming fixtures in the art world. For more, please visit Saelee’s site and Hannah’s site.

Nature’s Calling! Amy Ruppel for Blik

Blik is happy to introduce Amy Ruppel, aka @my, into our roster of amazing artists. Nature’s inspiration is clearly at the forefront of this Wisconsin native and Portland-based artist’s work. Blik co-founder, Jerinne Neils first came across @my’s work on mutual retailer, Velocity Art & Design, about 5 years ago and has been collecting her work ever since. “As a Portland native, I connected with her work. The nature themes are so much a part of growing up in the Northwest. I also loved the idea of supporting an artist from my home town. Five years ago Portland was not the hot spot it is today for artists.” ~ Jerinne Neils.

The initial release of @my’s collection for Blik includes Branches, Night Owls and Night Owls Window. All have her signature birds, owls and orange & ochre color palette. Although suited for many tastes, her graphics have a feminine and vintage appeal, delicious for nurseries, bedrooms or any place you want to add a modest statement. As for @my’s resume, Blik joins the ranks of such brands as Target & Kid Robot (seen below), Burton Snowboards and Converse. For more on @my, visit her website.

THE ESPECIALNESS

especial_logo

We’ve fed our Threadless collaboration Especial pills. This past Monday we released Threadless Especial by Blik. This line was born out of our full-color printing capabilities which allow us to print some of our favorite designs, previously unavailable to us based on the complexity of their color treatment or intricate designs. We thought Threadless was the ideal partner to introduce this Especial series because of the vast and diverse range of artwork available in their brand. And, we think they’re cool. We will select and release new Especial designs every couple of months, so stay in the loop via our newsletter and keep Blik’ing or Nix’ing in the Threadless voting booth.
