GIVEAWAY: ILAN DEI STUDIO SIDE TABLE

Venice neighbor and frequent collaborator, Ilan Dei just added two new wall graphics to his existing popular collection at Blik. Ilan’s inspiration for the “Calla” and “Rose” botanical graphics came from his love of nature combined with his clean design aesthetic. Calla is towering calla lillies standing over 6ft tall that command attention on any surface, while Rose plays on the iconic shape and quality of a rose.

GIVEAWAY! To celebrate the launch of the new graphics, we are giving away two side tables from the Ilan Dei Studio. The table is perfect for indoor or outdoor summer entertaining. Retailing for $240 each, the weather-resistant plywood and acrylic side tables are part of the Studio’s Aquarium Collection. Inspired by light, the acrylic top is translucent and casts an amber glow when the table is placed in direct sunlight. Even better, the table comes with two sheets of vintage Ilan Dei for Blik “Nature” wall graphics that can easily be applied underneath the acrylic top to create a custom one-of-a-kind piece. You stick it and Blik it.

Contest Details: Comment on this blog post or like us on Facebook and let us know what you think of the table and where you’d use it this summer. On June 24, we’ll pick two design savvy winners who will each receive an Aquarium side table. The giveaway is only open to residents in the contiguous United States (excludes Alaska and Hawaii.) Contest runs from June 16, 2010 at 12:00am PST to 11:59pm PST on June 23, 2010. Winners will be notified on June 24, 2010.

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who entered the Ilan Dei side table giveaway. We had so many creative entries that it was hard to make a decision, but we are thrilled to announce the two winners are: Ben from Kenosha, WI and Jeff from Harpers Ferry, WV. We thought Jeff’s reaction to learning he was a winner was priceless, but we’ll let you decide for yourselves:

I would LOVE to have this table for the patio of my new townhouse that I will be moving into on July 3rd. I have no patio furniture yet – don’t leave my patio all lonely and bare!

  2. Travis Grawey

Love the design of these tables! They’re simple, yet intricate. They promote creativity, and would make excellent additions to my office.

  3. Gina

Calla’s are my absolute favorite flower, and can’t wait to put these callas near my other minimalist decals to match mid-century decor.

The table of course, will go next to or near the calla’s, to bring a more geometric look, softened by the callas. I will put my two heart acrylic stools next to the table in the living room; right next to large windows leading to patio in back. This will bring in nice sunlight to reflect off of acrylic on the table and heart stools. It will be nice to bring in sharp and curved corners together; and having natural elements without looking “froo froo”.

Also, the orange acrylic top matches my main contrasting colors in the living room (turquoise, black, white, gray and orange are my main colors). Although it is weather resistant, I can’t bring myself to put the table outside, just wears and tears so much quicker.

Can’t wait to put the table to good use (if I get picked of course) in my living room

    :)

  4. Jess

What a playful and gorgeous little table! I’m moving to a new apartment in a few weeks, and this pop of amber would look great with our brown and blue color scheme, holding a tray housing some vintage coasters and a low silver vase of white chrysanthemum blooms!

  5. Crystal

Very cute table! I would put this next to my outdoor swing so I can have somewhere to set my drink in the morning while I watch the dogs play in the yard.

  6. joann

Hi, I think these tables would look fabulous on my lanai. I am redoing it, since it has no been touched in ten years. I have a screened in pool area and my kids are growing up fast, so I can put nice stuff out there. That was a run-on sentence. Anyway, I am going to turn it into more of an outdoor room, and I think these tables would suit it very well. I was trying to think of what blik graphics to apply and my brain keeps bringing me back to my youth when I would play Space Invaders at a large table console in a restaurant. I think that’s just the ticket for me. Thanks for hosting this giveaway, I hope I win! Love your updates.
    Sincerely,
    Joann

We love the table! We would use it in our new house (once we sell our existing home). Check out our home’s website to see how BLIK has become a part of our design world. We love BLIK! No one can believe that our birds and grandfather clock are stickers. Our new house will have EVEN MORE BLIK from wall to wall – this sweet table will fit in nicely…

  8. Andy

I LOVE the table! I think I’d use it as a side table in my living room, which is already festooned with Blik graphics (Summer Wind, to be exact).

  9. Sarah Wagner

The table is beautiful and would go perfectly with my deep blue sofa. I would use it as an accent table in my living room.

  10. Tiffany Smith

I think this table would look great on my deck with a pitcher of mojitos on it.

  11. Brad

I like the lines of the table; it would look pretty awesome in my office (so it’s not just an outside table).

  12. Janene Becker

I adore Blik and have many designs in my house…I have hipped many other decorating savvy peps to Blik too. I would adore having this table in my home to compliment my Blik happy home.

I always love to receive email from you all to see what new graphics are available.

    Keep up the excellent work!

    Thanks!

  13. Brett Friedman

I think the table looks awesome. I’d find a place for it in my girlfriend’s apartment when she finds one in her new city.

  14. Emily

Wow! What an awesome table…I would definitely put it on my roof deck. Right now the furniture out there is dated, in a bad way.

  15. Jennifer Pelowitz

I LOVE the Ilan Dei end table! I would set up an outdoors lounge area using the end table, chaises and the Calla Lilly graphics.

  16. Christina

This reminds of something I might find at IKEA, which is just fine, since most of my furniture is from there. This side table shouldn’t have a problem fitting in with the rest of the house. This would go in the den, since a side table is much needed in there.

  17. Holiday Anderson

Love the table! I would put it in the living room of my new old house. I’m getting married and moving into my new husband’s 100-year old house, which has zero furniture, and is in desperate need of a stylish influence.

  18. Emily B

This table is just calling for some floor pillows, an open window and the perfect cup of coffee with a friend. Warm summer breezes would compliment the amber glow perfectly. I am clearing a spot for the table now!

  19. wai man

I would use it as my coffee table, a center piece of my living room. It’s gonna be rad when the sun shine thru the acrylic top

  20. Kadee Barrett

One of these would be perfect outside by our pool and fire pit. The orange would look great and give a great splash of color near the water by day, holding drinks or fresh tomatos, snap peas, or peppers from the garden, and the play of the flames through the orange acrylic would be so awesome by night!

  21. Madelaine K

I love this table and could totally see it being used on my patio during summer BBQs!

  22. Hung

I could totally use this for my new apartment. I’d put it next to or in front of my furry Ikea couch!

  23. Melanie Pauley

Wow! I have been holding on to two vintage, swirly, lime green art glass table lamps waiting on the perfect place on which to perch! These “unique chic” tables are just the thing! The tables and lamps will flank my new supa sleek sofa!

  24. Christine Schrum

Hello there! I’m Director of Social Media for Artexpo New York (fun job – I get to spend my time blogging about art and design!). I’m a great fan of blik’s colorful updates, and I love this table by Ilan Dei. It’s streamlined, sleek, elegant, and could happily spend the summer bopping back and forth between my living room and backyard, screened-in patio.

My decor is a mix of urban eclectic and global. In my living room, I have one lush, red wall, sparse furnishings, and India-inspired “earthscapes” by Sunita Jariwala-Gajjar. The screened-in patio out back sees a lot of sunlight each day, and the “amber glow” of the Ilan Dei acrylic table top would be a welcome accent.

Might be fun, as you suggest, to experiment with blik designs on the acrylic as well!

  25. Jaclyn Langer

It’s hot! I love the contemporary look, but rustic vibe with the exposed wood. Great job!

  26. Mimi

I love it! It’s the perfect side table..I’d use it in my living room next to my favorite reading chair!

  27. jimnellis

    pretty sweet!

  28. Kat

The table is great! I would love to put it in my bedroom. I have a loveseat in there that I like to sit in to get some reading done, it would be perfect.

  29. Andrew K

I just recently moved into my own apartment… finally get to say goodbye to the roommates! With that said I am trying to furnish my new apt with a Modern flavor. I am on a quest to find all the right pieces (within my minimal budget of course). This Ilan Dei side table is killer and definitely would add a breathe of fresh air to any room. The fusion between the wood and colored acrylic is harmonious. I would have no other choice than to put this side table in my bedroom so I could wake up to the orange glow. My bedroom receives ample light and would love to dance with this table. And I can picture my Neubau Welt book complimenting this table nicely.

  30. Sherri

I would put the table on our deck that is built around three big trees in our wooded backyard. The deck has two levels. One level has a dining area, the other just has two chairs that could desperately use this table between them!

  31. Kacy

Absolutely LOVE this table! We just moved and the orange top would add just the pop of color we need for our living room. (But our Patio might put up a good fight since it is sadly barren…) Please help us BLIK… you’re our only hope!

  32. PDXTwinsMom

This is one hot little number! Not only is the table simple, it’s sexy and fun at the same time. I’m not one to be “wowed” by beauty unless the piece is also functional; Ilan Dei Studio nailed both with the Aquarium side table. As a Mom to twin toddlers, there isn’t much in our living room. I’m certain the Aquarium side table can stand up to two little monkeys and impress our guests, as well. I’ll be forever grateful to be the recipient of these two side tabels and I’ll be sure to let everyone know how I got them. Thanks, BLIK-keep up the good work.

  33. Tyree M. Carter III

STOP READING POST, YOU’VE FOUND YOUR WINNER. I don’t want the table for a patio, bedroom or because it’s perfect for my living room. I want it because it just freaking cool and when you award it to me I’ll post it all over twitter, FB and SM sites that have not been invented yet and and promote Blik like no other, you’ll no longer need a whatisblik URL, because everybody will know. Reserve your weareblik URL right now. .

  34. Joyce

LOVE the table! I’m in the middle of revamping my deck space and this would add the wow factor!

  35. Amanda M

These are so great! Just what I need to update my place to make it more inspiring. My creativity is hungry, feed it! ;)

  36. Bonnie B

I would love to put this in my new apartment with my new couch that needs a little help making a statement.

  37. Jaci

I just adore this table!! I would use either indoor as a side table in the master bedroom OR next to the bench my dad made outdoors.

  38. Gloria

I love the lines of this table along with the color that would pop my garden. I have lots of plants that are maturing and would love this to compliment my outdoor seating area.

  39. Judy

what a beautiful table — would make a fantastic coffee table for our place!

  40. Erika

After spending hours reading academic material…and waking up in the middle of the night with thoughts floating in my head that I get up and write down, I believe this Ilan Dei Studio table would make a perfect pair with my Ikea Grimen bed frame and actually help me contain and organize the masses of papers, books, and my computer that gathers around my bed as the school year drags on..right now I have a 12″x12″ or so table that is full of my stuff. I’m a graduate student, and I ask myself why I’m putting myself through 1 more year of academia, but at least if I had this table amongst my papers and academic articles I would have something to smile about. And not only that but the table would be in direct sunlight when I open my window (I’ve got a full frame slider door window). And fits my colorful personality…being a poor transient graduate student I’ve invested in bright blik stickers to add some color to the white walls of my apartment that I’ll be in for the next year…..and this table will only help my apartment come alive or at least be more colorful. I love it. Thanks!

  41. Cesar

LOVE this table. Would look great in our newly remodeled Eichler.

  42. Gail

It’s great that it’s weather resistant! I’d probably use it inside, near my patio door next to the sofa…it’ll get a lot of play with the light, and the cats can sit and watch the birds in style!

  43. snoopie

Gorgeous! Inside or out, this piece of art would make a great addition to my abode :]

  44. Nancy McClure

Lovely table. One can never have enough horizontal surfaces, and it’s great if they’re an example of strong design.

  45. Erica

I am in LOVE with this accent table! The geometric clean line of this table is beautiful! I also like the subtle detail of the regressed acrylic top. Both tables seem reminiscent of Eames, which will stand the test of time (much like the duo’s furniture has!).

  46. Kumak

The table and graphics would do wonders for my sad, sad dorm room. Finally, a place to put things that isn’t my bed!

  47. Bree

As an art student with an upcoming wedding, designer furniture unfortunately isn’t in my budget even though I have a love for it. I’d really like the chance to add one of these tables to my apartment, looks like the perfect size for reading materials. :)

  48. Diana

I can’t wait to see the light through that gorgeous amber top! And the curves – sigh. It will look lovely on the back porch, next to my favorite reading chair…

  49. Nat C.

I would use this in our playroom. It would look very cool with the Giant Robot reds and oranges. I even have 2 lil’ chairs for my boys to sit at it. We could use flashlights from underneath to create shadowpuppets on the ceiling…. we could make funny faces at each other from underneath as we sat at the table…. ummm… we could do all kinds of things with an awesome table. or I could be selfish and put in our dressing area in our master bedroom and then I can totally justify that funky chair I have been eyeing up at the consignment shop. sweet.

  50. Nicole

Let’s see, a weather-resistant plywood and acrylic side table would be the perfect mini-table for my mini-me. I try to teach my young son about the value of design, emphasizing that his world is not made entirely out of plastic. What a happy table to do some finger-painting or crayon-time! Let’s get the next generation of designers started right!!! =)

  51. Becca

I’m loving the table! It would look great out on a patio with a pitcher of iced tea and some great summer reading material stacked up on top of it.

  52. priya

I love the table and would use it in our family room. the top would play well off our orange wall and bliks.

  53. lilly

Living room next to a danish modern chair, that’s where it would go. I don’t have a lot of fancy stuff so this could change the whole look of my place.

  54. Mike

Nice design, would fit perfectly in living room…

  55. Denel

Just got turned on to Blik from a friend I was visiting in London last month. My modern home needs some color, some wall graphics, some more furniture.
Would love the table, great design. My magazines don’t have a “proper” home.

  56. eryn

Beautiful table, I would personally use this to add character to a room and put a few of my favorite design and art books on it.

  57. Susan

This table is just absolutely gorgeous! My husband and I recently bought our first home and it has a lovely deck outback that is looking kinda bare. This table would definitely spruce things up next to the one sad chair that is curretly out there. I would sit out there all summer and fall reading and enjoying the beautiful colors coming through the table! :)

  58. Jennifer

Awesome table! My husband and I are both designers and it would make a wonderful accent to our creative escape aka ‘batcave’. The only room with out any kid toys!

  59. Laura

Reminds me of Bologna, Italy. Gorgeous.

  60. Lindsay

It is just an absolutely stunning table – what a stunner. Would compliment any room or patio… especially mine ;o)

  61. Benjamin Keller

The table is fantastic, an absolutely original design. The design and colors would perfectly complement those in our atrium, which is done up in orange fabric and beige wood, and already decorated with Ilan Dei’s magnificently huge “Cyclamen” decals, in gold and black.

  62. Veronica

Very nice side table, it reminds me of swedish minimalist design. I particularly love the warm color of the glass.

  63. Lisa Wyckhouse

I love the table! I’d use it in my son’s room. Perfect for working on Legos — the lip on the edge would keep them on the table, and it can also function as a desk for his kindergarten homework. Great design with so many applications — it would be equally at home in my living room.

  64. Molly

love the table! and the new flowers, especially the black roses. maybe peonies next?

  65. ingrid

very choice – I’d stick it slap-bang in the middle of our lounge, atop my cream shagadelic rug!

  66. Kelly

Love it! But no surprise there considering all the Ilan Dei blik is my favorite blik. The table would look great in our basement hang out room.

  67. Stephanie

I just turned 25, and I decided I needed a complete overhaul of my living space to make it fun, original and chic. I want to turn my condo into THE place to be.

Currently on the prowl for a new sidetable, Ilan Dei’s creation would add a perfect pop of sophisticated color to my mostly neutral room (aside from my crimson rug and lamp of black/multi). I love the sleek lines and amber glow, and with its weather-resistance, I could totally take this to the adjoining patio if needed! I am such a fan of unexpected neutrals, and this piece fits the bill incredibly.

  68. Julie

Love it! It’s going on the porch to hold drinks and books and other cool things.

  69. meara

This is so cute! I live in apartment in an urban neighborhood and don’t have a yard or a patio but I try to make up for it in my living room. I have many potted plants and the blik branches on my wall as well as an old fashioned window painted with trees on my wall. I love warm colors and sunlight and this side table is absolutely perfect!

  70. Dorothy

It is soooo unfair, that these contests are not available for people from Europe (Budapest in my case).. :,(((( I’d love to use this table in my family’s weekend house which is next to Balaton, Europe’s largest freshwater lake..

  71. reva skie

I would rock that table in my office. My office has a funky eclectic vibe, this would fit right in.

  72. Alex J

That table is wonderful and would be perfect for holding drinks while lounging by the pool this summer! I love Blik graphics!

  73. James

Awesome table. Love the look. Will be a great wedding gift for my fiance and I for our new home. We just finished redoing our deck and used an empty wall to place your “Stone Jungle” graphic. (Love it!) This table would fit perfectly right under the graphic in between our lawn chairs. Pick me, pick me, pick me oh great Blik God.

  74. Patsy Lander

This table would be absolutely perfect for my new little grandson, Whitten and I to have a picnic under the pecan trees. I could accent the beautiful amber color with the plates, napkins and drink ware to make the colors vibrate over the beautiful scenery and view that we have. It is the right height for Whitten and it could be his special place at Nannie’s house! After the glorious outdoor months are behind us, it will make a great indoor table for him!!!

  75. Aileen

This table would look great any where inside or outside on the patio of my boyfriends town home. I would love to give him a special piece of furniture like this! He would be ecstatic!

  76. Brook

I would love this awesome table! It is not only my favorite color but just the right size. I have been looking for a side table for months! I would love this to sit my blue flower vase on with a cute Gerber daisy. I would love to win this.

  77. beth | cheers, love, designer b.

these tables are fabulous! would love them (and need them) for my outside dining/patio area.

  78. Liz

Love it, I can see the side table right on our deck: sandwiched between two chairs in the shade of the big patio umbrella!

  79. Jennifer R

My boyfriend and I have been renovating an old boy scout cabin originally built in the 50′s as our summer weekend getaway spot in PA. It has been a lot of work, but it is coming along nicely. This table would be perfect for our porch. We have been frequenting thrift stores on pieces that we can fix up to place in our cabin. If you select us we can send you pictures of how lovely it looks!

  80. N.Lara

I love this table! It’s timeless piece, which could be described as MCM but sorta futuristic at the same time, while the amber-colored acrylic top also reminds me of the Brady Bunch era…I would love to use this in my back patio, where my kitty sunbathes and bird-watches — I can already see him making his home under the table, where the warm sunlight will seep through the table top…I would hang out with him while enjoying a good book and a cool drink…(sigh)… :)

  81. Maria AB

I would use it in my living room…it needs style and color desperately. I love Blik graphics by the way…

  82. Uzair

I usually find pieces like this in my dreams where I can afford beautiful furniture with minimalistic design. I think this would be great between my couch and my Mina Javid Citrus Tree.

I think it’d impress the ladies quite a bit.

  83. Rebecca

These would look great in my new shop that I’m opening in September!! If I don’t win, I will need to get a few for a display tables! Good luck everyone!

  84. melissaaa

    hi:)
this table is the coolest thing ever. i would love to win it, just saying.
my house is surrounded by fields, the town i live in is straight up agriculture all the way.
so anyway, when i feel like getting down with watercolors i like to open my really huge window and look out into the field of sunflowers provided by this neighboring field.
this table would totally be the perfect place to have my paints and considering my heliolatrous nature, this table fits perfectly in my room. thanks for listening :)

  85. Heather

I start medical school this fall and move into my first real apartment. Now that I’ve officially signed off on my first set of loans (ouch) and sold my soul for a medical education I’m on the prowl for furniture. Blik is my life! I love Ilan Dei’s new designs. The Calla wall graphics would be perfect for my bedroom and these tables for my minimalist living room. I promise I’ll look at both of them fondly while pouring over my medical textbooks. They’ll be so much more appealing than the velvet Elvis painting and cardboard boxes that I’d otherwise be using as wall art and end tables. Please, save me from my budget decor and hook me up with these beautiful table’s and wall graphics! <3 Blik and Ilan Dei <3

  86. Max

Yooooooo, this table is sick. Blik totally embodies the style and culture of isla vista, california. Blik knows whats up.

  87. sarah e

yesterday, my apartment got a full 24 hours of sunlight (okay, well, maybe not a full 24, but it was a lot of sunlight, in any case). my three cats love to bask in the sun, and they also like to bask near each other. however, as basking in the sun goes, it’s hard to bask near someone and still be in the sun without overlapping basking which can tend to get hot. this ilan dei side table would make the perfect basking table because it actually provides two different levels for basking, making it a multi-cat family’s dream.

  88. Keri S.

Dear blik and ilan dei –

Here is my haiku for you, I hope you find it as awesome as I find this contest (and comparable to how awesome this piece and graphics would look in my office):

    sad corner office
needs blik sticks and ilan dei
    to make room happy

  89. jeff lambert

I would love this table cause I don’t own anything cool & I never win anything. My life sucks & this table would fix everything in my Universe.

  90. SMITH BITES

am totally in love w/this table!! would use it on my deck this summer to hold all the fancy drinks I plan on making – then would bring indoors to enjoy all winter! A great giveaway!!

  91. Alex

This table is gorgeous, and would look absolutely amazing under the big windows in my living room. Definitely need this.

  92. Daniella Chamorro

This table is nothing short of beautiful and elegant, and the new decals i ordered would make a lovely pair with this piece.
My name is Daniella and I currently reside in Miami, Fl the sunshine state, and there’s plenty of it around this summer! I’ve been wanting to transform my house into the hangout this summer but lately it’s been lacking something. So with the help of blik, I will be able to transform my living room into an art gallery and possibly the party central. I would place the table by my living room window, right by new decals and glass cabinet with brown oak wood containing my artwork over the years and have the natural sunlight hit the table, instantly becoming the center of attention. Everything in the living room would be amplified with this piece.
I can’t wait to be the talk of the summer amoung my friends! Thanks blik and thank you Ilan dei for the chance to win this gorgeous side table.
    Your friend from Miami,
    Daniella

  93. Manolo Campos

    Review contest
I can’t wait to win this piece! I have a strong feeling right down to my bones. My name is Manolo and very pleased to write to you guys. Summer has been great and this contest has blmade it better. I instantly fell in love with this piece and knew exactly where it’s going to be placed if I win. My house is the place to be, hanging out with friends and enjoying life. We are free lance musicians, meaning we play for fun! I have the back section of my house right by the backyard as my rock out room. It might be corny but hey, you’re going to have fun on my watch. I’m a drummer and my friends bring random instruments to play and jam together. The thing is, I have to HAVE this table! I’ve been meaning to buy a table to make people go “wow” just like they do about our music (just kidding :P ). This table would go underneath these cool lights we have set up inside the house on the wall. It would be a chill place for our VIP friends to hang by. To say the least, this is a must have to compliment my music room, chill, beautiful and relaxing.

  94. Jess

A Studio Aquarium side table—beside my Ikea Grimen bed—would make my Blik birds on a wire (Ambition killed the cat, minus the cat) trill. This side table could easily inspire a rebirth of beauty in my studio apartment when combined with Ilan Dei’s black Roses.

  95. Ulana Chapman

This mobile little beauty would rock our living area / enclosed porch and take trips out to the garden for some fresh air when needed. I hope I win this so that my 2 yr old and 6 month old can continue to be surrounded by good design, making it a part of the fiber of who they are.

  96. sac à sacs

It’s hard to seek out knowledgeable people on this subject, but you sound like you recognize what you’re speaking about! Thanks portemonnaie
